Terms of Service.

These terms are an agreement between you and Willem Bekker trading as Beka (ABN 20 917 156 101) (“we,” “us,” “our”), based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. They govern your use of Beka. By creating an account or using Beka, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Beka.

Beka is available in Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and South Africa. It is not offered in the European Union or the United Kingdom.

1. Who can use Beka

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live, if higher) to use Beka. Beka is a tool for parents and guardians. Children do not use Beka, do not create accounts, and should not be given access to your account.

2. Your account

You’re responsible for your account and for keeping your sign-in details secure. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has accessed your account. The information you give us when you sign up must be accurate.

3. What Beka does

Beka helps you stay on top of family logistics. You forward school emails to a Beka address, or record short voice notes, and we extract events, dates, and to-dos and show them in your family feed. We use AI providers to read forwarded content and transcribe voice notes; how we handle that information is described in our Privacy Policy.

Beka is a convenience tool. We try to extract information accurately, but automated extraction can make mistakes, so you should check important dates and details against the original source.

4. Information about your children and others

When you forward an email or record a note, it may contain information about your children or other people (for example, a class teacher or another child named in a school message). By sending us that content, you confirm that you are the parent or guardian of any child whose information it contains, or that you are otherwise entitled to share it, and you authorise us to process it to provide Beka. We handle this information as described in our Privacy Policy, including the section on children’s information.

5. Acceptable use

Please use Beka only for its intended purpose and lawfully. Don’t use Beka to upload content you have no right to share, to attempt to breach the security of the service, to interfere with other users, or to misuse the service in a way that could harm others. We may suspend or close accounts that misuse Beka.

6. Subscriptions and payment

Beka is currently provided free of charge during our testing phase. We intend to introduce paid subscriptions. Before any charge applies to you, we will update these terms and present the pricing and billing terms to you in the app, and payments will be handled by a payment provider, not by us directly.

7. Your content

You keep ownership of the content you send us (the emails you forward and the notes you record) and the information in your feed. You grant us the limited permission needed to process and display that content to provide Beka to you. We don’t sell your content, share it for advertising, or use it to train any AI model of our own.

8. Deleting your account and data

You may delete your account and all associated data at any time, directly from within the app: go to Settings → Account → Delete my account. If you are the only adult on your family, this also permanently deletes your family’s shared data. If there is another adult on your family, you can also choose Delete family to permanently wipe the family’s data even with another adult on it.

If you cannot access the in-app option, you can also email us at hello@beka-app.com and we will action verified deletion requests within 30 days.

9. Our intellectual property

Beka, including its software, design, and branding, belongs to us. These terms don’t give you any rights in it beyond using the app as intended.

10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Beka is provided “as is.” We work to keep it reliable and accurate, but we don’t guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and — as noted above — automated extraction can be wrong, so you should verify important details.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of Beka. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy that the law gives you and that cannot lawfully be excluded (including, in Australia, the consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law).

11. Suspension and termination

You can stop using Beka and close your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms or if we need to for legal or security reasons. If we end the service, we’ll give you reasonable notice and a way to retrieve or delete your data.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and you and we submit to the courts of that jurisdiction — except where the law of the country you live in gives you mandatory rights or a right to bring proceedings locally, which these terms do not override.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Beka changes. If we make a material change, we’ll update the “Last updated” date and tell you in the app or by email before the change takes effect for you.
